Based out of Glendale, the Arizona Cardinals are members of the Western Division of the National Football Conference, which in turn is a part of the National Football League. The Cardinals are the oldest professional football team in the United States and was originally based in Chicago round the turn of the century. They moved to Missouri in the 60s where they stayed until 1988 when they were moved to Arizona. In 2006, the team moved into the newly constructed University of Phoenix Stadium where they finally qualified for Super Bowl XLIII.
In a parody of the Cleveland Browns, the Cardinals are sometimes referred to as the Cardiac Cards because of their penchant for snatching victory from the jaws of defeat or not. Also referred to as the “Big Red,” The Cardinals are set to improve on their 2008 performance this year.
During the draft in 2009, the Cards picked up, Beanie Wells at running back, and Brown at linebacker. General Manager Rod Graves also mentioned that they were looking to sign around eight to ten undrafted rookies in hopes of picking up some upcoming talent. The Cardinals also considered taking a tight end, but decided in the end to pass. Tight end or not, the Cardinals are hungry for victory after the taste they got last year at the Super Bowl and not to be taken lightly.
